LINCOLN PARK HISTORIC DISTRICT NEIGHBORHOOD ASSOCIATION MEETING
APRIL 15, 2010-- FRIENDLY TOWN CLASSROOM; LINCOLN PARK; 7:00 p.m.
President Brenda Dwiggins called the meeting to order, and welcomed the attendees and alderman Mike Puhr. The minutes from the September 2009 meeting were read and approved. The treasurer reported a balance of $1004.93 after paying for the new park lights for the north entrance.
Old Business:
>Compliance with the 2010 census was stressed, for members not receiving
forms as yet.
>The park lights (see above) will be installed this spring. Media will be invited.
>The fourth Leaf a Legacy tree sponsored by the LPHDHA has been installed by
the east entrance.
New Business:
th Annual Neighborhood Workshop held in February.
There were nearly 100 attendees, and a variety of topics were discussed, such as
complaint procedures, setting goals, starting an association, as well as sharing
ideas among the associations represented. Members were urged to attend next

>The Keep Vermilion County Beautiful program has been renewed this year.
Raffle tickets are $50.00 for a car or $20,000. There will be a cleanup at
Kennekuk Co. Park on April 24.
>The next Painting Blitz will be June 19.
>The LPHD rummage sale will be June 12 with June 19 as an alternate date.
>The Property/ Home Improvement Sign will be placed at 1107 N. Logan.
>The city has engaged a group called Walldogs to paint murals on the blank walls
of buildings in Danville. Volunteers are needed to house the artists in August (see
Joyce Melton.)
>Election of officers will be at the May meeting.
>Park clean-up will be Sat., April 24 at 9:00 a.m.
>There is a new concessionaire in the park. Patronage would be appreciated.
>Brenda announced that the post office has warned against putting our
newsletters in their mailboxes. They will start charging us for postage.
The NEIGHBORHOOD ACTION PLAN was introduced and explained by Brenda. The fundamental process consists of: 1) inventory and analysis of existing conditions, 2) set goals, 3) evaluate the alternatives, 4) develop a plan, 5) implement, 6) monitor/re-evaluate. The attendees then complied lists of neighborhood strengths and weaknesses on the forms provided.
Alderman Puhr gave an update from the City Council. The $850,000 city budget is on display. The state may withhold some of its tax money owed the city. The city is able to fund only five Municipal Band Concerts, so there may not be any. The Fetch Dog Park is opening. The city is using some new street repair procedures.
Melissa Kercheval, a new member, won the 50-50.
