LINCOLN PARK HISTORIC DISTRICT NEIGHBORHOOD ASSOCIATION
MEETING
MAY 20, 2010--FRIENDLY TOWN CLASSROOM, LINCOLN PARK; 7:00 P.M.
The minutes were approved as presented in the newsletter. The treasurer reported a balance of $1035.93.
Old Business:
>The district-wide rummage sale will be Saturday, June 12 from 8:00 to 1:00 pm. Contact Sue Barnes if you wish
to participate.
>The electric lanterns on the North Entrance should be installed before Arts in the Park. There will be a
presentation ceremony with media present.
>Members were urged to work on their Neighborhood Action Plans between meetings and they will be discussed
and compiled at the monthly meetings.
New Business:
>Brenda has information on replacement windows for homes in Historic Districts.
>Brenda noted the new trees planted on the east side of the park for Arbor Day.
>Joyce Melton asked for additional housing for the mural painters for the Walldogs project the city is
sponsoring in August.
>Joyce also encouraged residents to nominate gardens and neighborhoods for the "Make It Bloom" contest
sponsored by the Danville Garden Club, and handed out the forms. There are various categories of monetary
awards given as prizes at a recognition ceremony.
nd.>Park clean-up will be 9:00 a.m. on May 22
>Brenda urged patronizing the concession stand to help to maintain its positive presence in the park.
>The current officers and board members were unanimously reelected for the coming year: President, Brenda
Dwiggins; Vice President, Joyce Melton; Secretary, Nancy Bates; Treasurer, Ellen Vanesse; Directors, Sue
Jones, Dona Farnsworth, Rick Thompson.
>Alderman Jerry Askren brought the Association up-to-date on city projects and budget items, as well as
addressing some concerns about non-conforming and derelict properties in the HD.
The 50-50 drawing was won by Harold Melton, who donated it back to the treasury.
The meeting adjourned at 9:07 pm.
