LINCOLN PARK HISTORIC DISTRICT NEIGHBORHOOD ASSOCIATION MEETING

June 18, 2009--Friendly Town Classroom, Lincoln Park

The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. by the president, Brenda Dwiggins, who welcomed the attendees and introduced the speaker, David Schnelle, the City Engineer for Danville, and Justin Houston, Project Manager, who brought the association up to date on the proposed bike path that would pass through the District along the west and south borders of the park. They discussed the total route of the path, as well as funding and a potential time schedule for construction, and answered questions from the attendees. They also responded to questions concerning the replacement of the Fairchild St. subway, which is in the preliminary engineering phase and requires the cooperation of the railroad companies involved.

The reading of the minutes of the May 21 meeting was dispensed with because of their inclusion in the newsletter. There were no corrections.

Treasurer Ellen Vanesse reported a balance of $1145.41. The report was approved as presented.

CITY UPDATES:

Alderman Mike Puhr announced that the new Public Works building is open and operating, and seems to be a big improvement for the departments using it. The old building will be sold. Two derelict buildings, including the old City Hall, are scheduled for demolition.

The 50-50 drawing of $12.00 was donated back to the association by Ed Dwiggins.

There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 8:13 p.m.
