LINCOLN PARK HISTORIC DISTRICT NEIGHBORHOOD ASSOCIATION MEETING MINUTES
August 17, 2006; 7:00 p.m.; Lincoln Park Performing Arts Stage
President Brenda Dwiggins called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. and introduced our guests, Frank Young and Nancy Fahey, candidates for Vermilion County Circuit Court Judge, who outlined their qualifications for the position and took questions from the audience.
The minutes from the July meeting were approved as presented in the newsletter.
The treasurer reported a balance on hand of $2103.49.
Old business:
>Brenda pointed out that the other neighborhood associations are not ready to order banners at this point. Rhea Ann Weatherford moved that our Association proceed with ordering ours; the motion was seconded and passed. She reported that Danville Township Supervisor Roger Boen intends to place some Abraham Lincoln banners along the Logan Avenue side of the park. He will be contacted about integrating the placement of those banners with the banners LPHDHA is purchasing for the same area.
>An attorney is still needed for the city Historic Preservation Committee.
New business:
>The Saturday park cleanup will be one week later in August because of park scheduling.
>The Leaf a Legacy program to provide young trees for the park was discussed. Rhea Ann Weatherford moved that the LPHDHA donate one tree this year to the program. The motion was seconded and passed.
>Attendance at meetings by homeowners not in the Historic District was discussed. They are welcome at all meetings and activities, and are probably eligible to annex to the District if their property is contiguous to the District. (Advise checking with the city Planning Department.)
>Park cleanup will be the 4th Saturday in September.
Remarks by Alderman Mike Puhr:
>Mike will be the financial advisor for the mayor's reelection campaign.
>There will be another city hearing about a proposed smoking ban on Sept. 19, 4:30-6:00.
>The city would like to fund garbage service through an enterprise fund to make it self-supporting. It would cost about $16/month and include a toter and a recycling program.
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 8:25 p.m. The $11.00 in 50-50 money was donated to the Banner Fund by acclamation.
