LINCOLN PARK HISTORIC NEIGHBORHOOD ASSOCIATION MEETING

SEPTEMBER 17, 2009--Friendly Town Classroom, Lincoln Park

President Brenda Dwiggins called the meeting to order and welcomed the attendees. She introduced the speaker, Doug Ahrens, Director of Public Works for the City of Danville, who described his department's subdivisions and responsibilities. It is the second largest department in the city, and is responsible for waste management and other community services. He commented on the new automated solid waste collection program, and addressed concerns about the closing of the recycling program currently being operated by the County. There will probably be some kind of survey for community-wide input before a replacement, such as curbside recycling, will be instituted by the city. He also addressed questions about replacement plans for the Fairchild St. subway and other topics related to his department.

The reading of the August 20 minutes was dispensed with as they were printed in the newsletter. Joyce Melton, treasurer pro-tem, reported a balance of $2,692.
