LPHDNA MAY 2009 NEWSLETTER
Hello everyone!
My thanks to our VP, Joyce Melton, for chairing last month's meeting. Joyce is quite an outstanding citizen in our neighborhood. She was one of the originals in organizing this Association and exemplifies what being a good friend and caring neighbor are all about. Thanks, Joyce!
Thanks also to the April speaker, John Dreher, Neighborhood Development Manager, for addressing many questions and comments on the Certificate of Appropriateness form that is required from residents in the Historic District for exterior changes to our homes and properties. Please be assured that he is most willing to answer any questions you may have at any time. He can be emailed at jdreher@cityofdanville.org or telephoned at 431-2329. The minutes of the April meeting are on the back of this page.
This month's meeting is May 21st, 7:00 pm, at Friendly Town. David Schnelle, City Engineer, will be our guest speaker. He will give us an update on the Lincoln Park Bike Path. New officers will be elected at this meeting. Nominations are welcome for ALL positions: President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer and Board of Directors. The assistance from Block Captains is vital. There can be more than one per block. Please consider volunteering your time and talents for the betterment of our community.
Plans for the 2009 Historic District House and Garden Walk, which takes place on July 18th with a rain date of July 25th, are very much in progress. This event will showcase our beautiful neighborhood with the proceeds raised going to our Association and towards the continued restoration of the historic Lamon House. Many thanks to the neighbors who are making this event possible. Volunteers will be needed in several areas. You'll receive a Volunteer Sign-Up form soon. Please be generous with your time and help make this event a great success! Each volunteer will receive one free Garden Walk ticket.
Joseph and Mary Albeanese, at 1106 Grant, are the recipients of the "Most Improved Property" sign. Congratulations!
Angela and Joey Albeanese are the new Block Captains for the 1100 block of Grant. THANK YOU!
Please take a few minutes on Saturday, May 23rd, to help clean up the park. We begin at 9:00 am, north entrance.
Please let me know if there is anyone you'd like to hear speak at our meetings. Email me at brenda.dwiggins@sbcglobal.net or call at 431-0092. All requests are welcome.
The warmer months are here and it's time to enjoy the great outdoors! There are all kinds of activities going on around town all summer… too numerous to list in this newsletter. Please check out the Calendar of Events at www.danvillecvb.com.
Remember that neighbors contiguous to the Historic District are welcome to our meetings. If you know of a resident whose home borders our community and would like to participate in our activities, please bring them along!
As always, I hope this finds you doing well. I look forward to seeing all of you on May 21st, 7:00 pm, Friendly Town. YOUR SUPPORT IS NEEDED!
Best regards,
Brenda Dwiggins President, LPHDNA
