LPHDNA JUNE 2009 NEWSLETTER

Hello everyone!

A special thanks to Chris Voccio, publisher of the Commercial-News, for stepping in at the last minute to speak at the May meeting. It was good to hear his visions and goals set for our hometown newspaper. Best of luck, Chris! The minutes of the May meeting are on the back of this page.

This month's meeting is June 18th, 7:00 pm, at Friendly Town. David Schnelle, City Engineer, will be our guest speaker. He will give an update on the Lincoln Park Bike Path.

The same slate of officers was elected in May with the exception of adding of a third board of director, Rick Thompson. Thank you, Rick, for joining our team!

MORE VOLUNTEERS ARE NEEDED to help with the 2009 Historic District House and Garden Walk, which takes place on July 18th with a rain date of July 25th. Help is needed with outside/inside greeters at the homes, guides and watch in gardens, at the lemonade stand, at the Craves venue, at streets and crossings. Please email me at Brenda.dwiggins@sbcglobal.net or call 431-0092 to let me know where and the times you're willing to help. Many thanks to the neighbors who are making this event possible. Please be generous with your time and help make the Garden Walk a great success! Each volunteer will receive one free Garden Walk ticket.

Kudos to the proprietors of Timothy-Dann's Salon for, once again, beautifully landscaping the south entrance to the park! Your work is definitely noticed and appreciated! Timothy-Dann's also was awarded the "Most Improved Property" sign. Congratulations!

And, many thanks to Joyce Melton and Cathy Johnson for overseeing the landscaping at the north entrance for many years. It, too, is noticed and appreciated! If you can't make a meeting but want to nominate anyone to receive this award, please let me know.

Arts in the Park will be on June 27th and 28th at Lincoln Park. Come and enjoy the crafts, music, dancing and food, seeing old friends and making new ones!

Our park clean up will not be necessary this month since the set "fourth Saturday of the month" is when Arts in the Park is occurring. So………… Joyce Melton, Cathy Johnson, Kim Thompson and Ed Dwiggins …………. enjoy the festivities at the park!

"Make It Bloom" nominations are being accepted through June 20th. Forms can be picked up at most local floral shops and nurseries, Custard Cup, Charlotte's, the Danville Public Library, CRIS Senior Services and Shick Office Supply. Completed forms should be mailed to "Make It Bloom", 319 Concord Drive, Danville, IL 61832, or dropped off at the Commercial-News or Shick's.

For those of you who have the "meeting reminder signs"…. Please remember to put them out on the Monday prior to our meeting.

Thanks, Mike Puhr, for donating your winnings to the Association (for the second time this year) from the 50/50 raffle!

As always, I hope this finds you doing well. I look forward to seeing all of you on June 18th, 7:00 pm, Friendly Town. PLEASE ATTEND - YOUR SUPPORT IS NEEDED!

Best regards,

Brenda Dwiggins President, LPHDNA
