LINCOLN PARK PAVILION
6:30 PM POTLUCK; 7:00 PM MEETING
Hello Everyone!
Our monthly potluck/meeting has been changed to the THIRD Thursday of the month (May through September only). Please join us on Thursday, July 21st, at 6:30 pm, for a potluck dinner and meeting at the Lincoln Park Pavilion. Please bring a covered dish to share and your table service. If you're not able to make the potluck, that's okay, JUST COME TO THE MEETING AT 7:00 PM. Each meeting is held to as close to one hour as possible.
The minutes of our June 16, 2005 meeting are on the reverse side of this page. We had quite a full meeting with great participation! Thank you to everyone who attended. As a result of that meeting, the LPHDNA will be one of the first neighborhood associations in Danville to participate in this statewide program. See Minutes for details. Approximately 20 volunteers are needed for about two hours in August. An exact date will be given at our next meeting. Your help is needed AND appreciated!
Block Captains are vacant for the 900 block of Grant and the 900 and 1200 blocks of Sheridan. If you live on one of these blocks and would like to be the representative, please contact me at 431-0092. The Block Captains for the rest of the blocks, the Board members and I had a very productive meeting on July 7th. Everyone's willingness to represent his or her area was overwhelming and much appreciated. So much can be accomplished by working together!
TWO SPEAKERS AT THIS MONTH'S MEETING: Margie Jordan, from Citizens Police Academy, and Jerry Wright, Neighborhood Services Coordinator. Ms. Jordan will explain how the Citizens Police Academy is a program designed to build a better understanding between citizens and the police through education and positive interaction. Mr. Wright will speak on the role neighborhood associations play in today's society. This information will be very worthwhile to all of us!
LINCOLN PARK CLEAN-UP DAY IS SATURDAY, JULY 16TH, 9:00 AM - 10:00 AM: Please meet at the north entrance to the park. As always, your help is greatly appreciated!
The plans for a LPHDNA Neighborhood Directory are underway! You'll be hearing more about this from your Block Captain in the near future. This directory will be very useful for everyone!
Attached is an excerpt from the Neighborhood Association Training Workshop held on April 16, 2005 about the importance of neighborhood associations. Please take a few minutes to read this very informative article.
It's wonderful to see so much activity in the park! This was another successful year for "Arts in the Park." Congratulations to Larry Weatherford and his staff for putting together such a fine weekend the whole city of Danville and surrounding communities enjoyed! The Municipal Band has been drawing record crowds with their excellent music on Sunday evenings; The Lincoln Park Theatre Company will have another performance later in the season; "Movies in the Park" will be taking place along with many other scheduled activities. The ball field, tennis courts, basketball courts and the playground are in constant use. Take advantage of everything our wonderful neighborhood has to offer!
Hope to see you on July 16th at 9:00 AM for the Park Clean-Up Day and on July 21st for our monthly get together!
