LPHDNA JULY 2009 NEWSLETTER
Hello everyone!
Many thanks to David Schnelle, City Engineer, for giving an update on the Lincoln Park Bike Path as well as answering several questions from the floor at last month's meeting. The minutes of the June meeting are on the back of this page.
This month's meeting is July 16th, 7:00 pm, at Friendly Town. Our guest speaker is Kevin Jett. Kevin is a Community Partnership Specialist with the US Government. He will discuss the importance of the 2010 Census and how a complete count could benefit our community.
MORE VOLUNTEERS ARE STILL NEEDED to help with the 2009 Historic District House and Garden Walk, which takes place on July 18th with a rain date of July 25th. Help is needed with outside/inside greeters at the homes, guides and watch in gardens, at the lemonade stand, at the Craves venue, at streets and crossings. Please email me at Brenda.dwiggins@sbcglobal.net or call 431-0092 to let me know where and the times you're willing to help. Many thanks to the neighbors who are making this event possible. Please be generous with your time and help make the Garden Walk a great success! Each volunteer will receive one free Garden Walk ticket. More information about the Garden Walk is in the additional letter accompanying this newsletter.
Congratulations to Rhea and Larry Weatherford, and their staff, for another terrific Arts in the Park! Great job!
The "Most Improved Property" sign was awarded to Pe and Paula Forrest at 923 Grant. Congratulations!
My thanks to all of you who have gone unrecognized for doing good deeds, i.e., picked up debris, trimmed public shrubs or curbs, mowed lawns (other than yours), pulled weeds, anything that has made our community look better or be safer. Thanks!
Crime in our neighborhood is still occurring. Recently a bike was stolen from a garage on Sherman. Please be aware of unfamiliar or suspicious looking people. Keep doors locked and garage doors down. Report any crimes immediately to the Police Department.
A community yard sale has been mentioned for the fall. Let me know if you're interested. Deciding early will give us plenty of time to clean out those closets, garages, basements, etc., and pull in the dough!
Park clean up is scheduled for Saturday, July 25th, 9:00 am. Meet at the north entrance.
For those of you who have the "meeting reminder signs"…. Please remember to put them out on the Monday prior to our meeting.
Thanks, Ed Dwiggins, for donating your winnings from the 50/50 raffle to the Association.
As always, I hope this finds you doing well. I look forward to seeing all of you on July 16th, 7:00 pm, Friendly Town. PLEASE ATTEND - YOUR SUPPORT IS NEEDED!
Best regards,
Brenda Dwiggins President, LPHDNA
